WELCOME TO MY HOMEPAGE
I have studied the Black Arts Movement (the literary part of the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's and 70's). I beleive the artists' ideology of that period is applicable to current health and social issues plaguing African American communities today. My writing is an artistic expression of my perception of issues affecting our communities across the country.
Ron Karenga wrote in his essay about Black Art ". . .the truth needs to be told, and true creation is that which needs to be created and what we need to create is Black images which speak to and inspire Black people." He further went on to state that "Black Art must be for the people, by the people, and from the people."
If my work can be used as a tool to help educate communities, I wholeheartedly embrace the effort. As an Artist, my goal is to entertain you with a story that will captivate you as well as interject educational information. My goal is to tell stories that are relavant to what I see in my community during my lifetime.
